Roos Demol
Roos Demol
Advocate for Human Rights
Roos Demol, originally from Flanders, Belgium, has made a significant impact in Ireland since her move in 1998. She is a dedicated board member of the Africa Solidarity Centre. Her commitment to peace and justice has been recognized with the prestigious title of Ambassador for Peace by the United Irish Peace Federation in Belfast. Roos is a passionate advocate for human rights, co-founding the International Community Dynamics CLG (ICD) to further her mission. Additionally, she has taken the stage with Citadel, a world music band with musicians from the various communities of displaced people, demonstrating her commitment to cultural and community integration and she established Recruit Refugees Ireland. Roos has utilized various platforms to champion refugee rights, from webinars with IBEC, IHREC, and Tech4Good to panels and seminars at University College Cork and Trinity College Dublin. Her influence also extends to numerous radio appearances and podcasts, as well as the UN website. She addressed the significance of the EU elections for migrants at the European Parliament Alliance Offices in Dublin, in an event organised by EU Diaspora Vote and facilitated a workshop on social change in the workplace at the ENAR Anti racism and Diversity Week in the European Parliament in Brussels. Roos is involved in the ISS-Cluster of UCC, focusing on issues like populism and the rise of the far right. She also serves as an advisor on the board of Precnights, an organisation dedicated to the rights of migrant night workers, with a particular emphasis on supporting women. Through her relentless advocacy and leadership, Roos Demol continues to champion the rights and integration of migrants and refugees in Ireland and beyond.

Pierrot Ngadi

Pierrot Ngadi was born and grew up in Bandundu Province and Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has lived in Ireland for many years. Pierrot is a writer, peace and human rights advocate, lobbyist, and business consultant. He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, School of Ecumenics, and holds a MPHIL degree on International Peace Studies from 2003. He is a Universal Ambassador of Peace, Founder & Chair of the Congolese Anti-Poverty Network & Founder of Sport 4 Peace & Community Development. Pierrot is a board member of many organisations including, New Communities Partnership, DLR Integration Forum, Roger Casement Summer School, Voice of Congo, Dalkey Migrant Support Group and a member of Strategic Policy Committee in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown. Pierrot has been a member of Amnesty International and Frontline Defenders in Ireland, campaigning on human rights issues. Pierrot also works for St John of God, an organisation that supports children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Dr Amin Sharifi Isaloo is a lecturer in the Department of Sociology & Criminology at University College Cork. His fields of interests include race, ethnicity, migration, nationalism, development, politics, religion, arts and culture focusing on sociological and anthropological interpretations of symbols, images and ritual performances. He is the author of the book 'Power, Legitimacy and the Public Sphere: The Iranian Ta'ziyeh Theatre Ritual' (2017). His recent publications are 'Liminality in the Direct Provisional system - Living under extreme rules and conditions' (2020), 'Liminality and Modern Racism (2021), Racism and the far right (2023).
